Today is the United Nations Day and I have been able to visit their buildings in New York City. In an earlier post, I said that my goal since I could remember was to visit every country in the world. When you enter the United Nations, you automatically are in over 190 countries so I guess I am almost done!
The history of the United Nations is of course interesting and plenty of archives as well as gifts given to the UN from all over the world can be seen during the tour. An interesting note that might not be mentioned in the tour is that the founder of the Baha’i Faith wrote of the need and eventual making of something like the United Nations. Of course it is not perfect but the UN is a step forward to the unification of mankind, the main principle and teaching of the Baha’i Faith.
If you ever get a chance to visit one of their four headquarters in the world, I highly recommend it. The work being done there is something that needs to be admired and not given up on. Happy United Nations Day!
